GROUPS
Bible Study
Hope’s Bible studies meet once a week for several weeks to cover a particular book of the Bible or to cover specific topics such as the Lord’s Prayer or the Apostle’s Creed. Watch the weekly announcements to see when the next Bible Study will start.
Discussions on the Deck
Through the summer we have lively conversations on decks about the big questions about life, the world and God. Check Sunday announcements or call the church office to discover whose deck we’re meeting on each week.
Quilters
Hope’s Nimble Thimbles meet on the second and fourth Monday September through May from 9:30a.m. until noon. You are invited to join us as we make quilts that are donated locally to Lutheran Social Services. No sewing experience is necessary.
St. Stephen’s Shelter
Hope serves a hot breakfast to the homeless men at St Stephen’s Shelter on the 5th Sunday of the month. We meet at church at 7:15am, carpool to the shelter, serve the breakfast, and are back at church by 8:45 or so. If you are not able to help serve, grocery items and/or monetary gifts are needed.
Meals on Wheels
Hope delivers hot meals to our shut-in neighbors about once every 6 weeks. Watch the announcements for upcoming dates. There is a sign-up sheet in the gathering area a week or two prior to our delivery. Sign up as many times as you can to bring a blessing to these folks! And to yourself!
Feed My Starving Children
The community of Hope comes together and serves at Feed My Starving Children. FMSC is a non-profit Christian organization committed to feeding God's children hungry in body and spirit. Children and adults work together to hand-pack meals designed specifically for starving children. Meals are then shipped to more than 60 countries around the world. Hope also contributes financially to help cover the costs of these meals. Watch the announcements for upcoming dates to serve at Feed My Starving Children.
Habitat for Humanity
Every summer Hope works with Habitat for Humanity through Nokomis Builds. For two weeks each summer, members of Hope work onsite working and serving lunch to workers. No previous experience is needed to join the crew. Watch for more information in the Ray of Hope and weekly announcements in the summer to get more information.
Choirs
At Hope, we see music as a vital tool for discipleship and worship. We want you to be a part of this ministry. Men and women of all ages have an opportunity to participate in music ministry. Talk to Russ Carlson if you are interested in being a part of one of our music ministries.
The senior choir leads the worship every 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th Sunday (September – May). Rehearsals are held on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 p.m. During the summer months the ensemble meets once a month on Sunday morning to lead worship. Additional leadership opportunities for the senior choir include Rally Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Palm Sunday, Holy Week, Easter and the Music Festival Sunday during the annual Festival of the Arts. The senior choir also leads the annual Christmas Concert with the contemporary ensemble and friends of Hope.
The contemporary ensemble leads the “Victory Feast” setting every 3rd Sunday during worship. This ensemble is a very energized group of volunteers and provides leadership in a variety of special events at Hope including: Rally Sunday, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Holy Week, Easter and the Music Festival Sunday during the annual Festival of the Arts. This ensemble also leads the Worship at the Falls service every summer at the Minnehaha Park bandshell. The contemporary ensemble also leads the annual Christmas Concert with the senior choir and friends of Hope.
